I admit it, caffeine is my guilty pleasure. I was terrified that I would have to cut caffeine while nursing. Caffeine is an essential part of functioning as a grad student mom! I have learned to limit my caffeine intake so that my daughter sleeps, and I can work. I had no idea how wonderful Dunkin Donuts coffee could be! Perhaps next year when I am not nursing, I can consume enough caffeine to become super mom! :)
Today I noticed some snow flying in the air...not a happy moment for me.
Another reminder of why I hate Wisconsin.
Emily and I both have recovered from her shots. I have to hand it to her, she is a serious trooper. She does not get that trait from me! After a 5 day streak of bad sleeping, she broke the streak and slept last night, and she is even napping this morning. Whoo hoo! This was a great chance for me to grade more training presentations. If you are an instructor with a performance element to your courses, you can appreciate the time this takes. Although I love teaching online, grading these presentations is the hardest part of the job. I prefer the face-to-face presentations as it forces me to keep up with grading. The highlight of the presentations was learning how to make fondant for a wedding cake. I was drooling during that portion.
My grad school mom tip of the day: a timer is your best friend. Or, at least one of your best friends. I have been freaking out about the massive amount of work, school and life work lately. I started setting a timer for myself. Our house is a wreck, I admit it. And I am a neat freak living in a trashed house full of dog-hair tumbleweeds. It makes me nuts. Every day,I set aside 30 minutes, and I clean something. My house still looks like hell, but it makes me feel better. I am no where near the rank of a "domestic diva," but it is a big step for me these days. And it is nice to have a break. I wonder if that could count as exercise...
